Arisaema triphyllum (Jack in the Pulpit)
Part shade to full shade. Jack-in-the-Pulpit is a spring woodland flower usually growing 1-2' tall and 1 to 1 1/2' wide. It is usually green or purple on the outside and striped purple and greenish-white on the inside. Flowering plants initially only produce male flowers, but will change to male and female as they age. Thus, berries will only be produced on mature, older plants. When berries are produced, they are red and held in a cluster. Bloom time is early to mid spring. Average to moist soil. Does poorly in in heavy clay soils. Best left undisturbed once established in the garden. Rabbit resistant. USDA Hardiness zones 4-9. Sold in 4 1/2" pots.

Aruncus dioicus (Goat's Beard)
U.S. Native. Outstanding specimen plant. Looks very similar to a white Astilbe, only larger. The flowers are produced on feathery, creamywhite, open panicles which can grow up to one foot long. Robust habit; can be grown in place of a shrub in the garden. 4-5' tall. Blooms early to mid summer. USDA zones 3-7. Sun to shade. Average to moist soil. Great as a cut flower. Deer resistant. Campsis radicans (Trumpet Creeper, Trumpet Vine)
A fast growing, high climbing deciduous woddy vine. Reaches heights up to 40'. Once the vine climbs to a certain height, it grows horizontal branches that reach away from the support in a quest for light and space. Bright green, pinnately compound leaves cove the vine. Showy clusters of yellow-orange to red trumpet-shaped flowers first appear in summer (earlier in frost free climates) and are produced continuously until early autumn. The tubular flowers are 3-4" long and are followed by seed capsuls that often hang on the vine through the winter. USDA Hardiness zones 6-10. Full sun to part shade. Prefers rich moist soil, but is adaptable to less. Not recommended for growing on painted surfaces as the paint will likely be damaged. One of the best plants for attracting hummingbirds. Celastrus scandens (American Bittersweet)
A twining climbing vine capable of a height of 20' but more normally found sprawling on fences. American Bittersweet fruits are produced in July through October and are 1/4" round. The hang in clusters 2-4" long eventually splitting open to reveal bright red fleshy seeds for a showy Autumn. Easily trained to walls, trellises and fences. Full sun to part shade. Can be used in existing shrub plantings to provide wildlife cover. Also good for erosion control.. Provides winter food for a number of native birds and small mammals. Glossy green foliage. Cimicifuga (Actaea) racemosa (Black Cohosh, Black Snakeroot
Part shade to shade. U.S. NATIVE. The plants in this genus have been reclassified as 'Actaea' recently. Grows easily in average, medium moisture soils, but prefers orgaincally rich soil. Easily grown in containers. Foliage tends to scorch if the soil dries out. Plant in areas sheltered from strong winds. Slow to establish, but worth the wait! Height: 4-6'. Spread: 2-4'. Tiarella cordifolia (Foam Flower)
Part shade. Foamflower is easy to grow and naturalizes beautifully. The showy, fragrant flower spikes of fuzzy white flowers rise on stalks 6" above the bright green foliage.
